LISTENING ISSUES:
1) If you use Mozilla-Firefox or Windows Vista you may
have to put our online stream link in their “allowed” list of links-sites.
Since it is an audio file it considers it as possible spam.
2) Here is an issue we have had with Windows Media Player
and if you have Windows Messenger Service or Windows Messenger Service Live.
When you click to listen a small windows player will appear which takes up
about ¼ of the screen. It will read “connecting” but never seems to connect.
Just to the right of where it says connecting, you will see a small arrow.
Click this arrow and it will ask you to pick Windows Player default. Choose
this and it should start playing.
3) Windows Media Player v11. Our online stream works with
this player/version; however, it may not be displaying the song, group and
album title. On this player pick
“security”, then pick “show local captions” and then pick “activate”.
4) When you receive our web link-page to listen, be sure
to type this actual link in your internet browser ... “not” in a search engine,
search bar. Your search engine is for key words, not an actual link. Once you
type our link in your “internet” browser, it usually stays in the drop-down
list for several days. Just click the drop-down arrow or icon and pick our
link. You can also save this link in “favorites”.
5) Playlists: web casting license do “not” allow the
playlist to be displayed unless we get permission from each record company and
or artist and each songwriter which would not be practical. Some sites show the
playlist, but either they have done this or are likely illegal.
6) We change our playlist almost daily. Each playlist
contains about 60 songs, which lasts approximately 3 hours. When it ends, it
will play again or just click your media player start button or log on again to
listen.
7) Now here’s one we have not figured out yet. It is
possible to save our playlist for future use with windows media player. You
should “not” do this as it will override our new playlist and keeps playing the
same playlist.
8) We currently have almost 1500 songs in our media
library. We have several yet to add and we get more as they are available.
LISTENING TIPS:
Our internet radio stream utilizes windows media audio
format (wma) and works best with windows media player, which comes standard on
most computers. You should have windows 98 second edition, operating system or
later, windows media player 7.1 or later and Microsoft Internet Explorer
(browser).
The twenty-two kbps radio stream has the best quality, but
if you have a low-speed dial-up connection, it will probably buffer. Therefore,
we added a 16 kbps stream which is less likely to buffer. The 16 kbps has
inferior quality but we consider it acceptable and is a lot better than none.
It appears some of you are using winamp player to listen
to our wma streams. Though this will work, it does not properly display the
songs, song titles and so on. Plus it plays each song 3 times. You should use
windows media player with our current wma streams.
Most media players have audio settings which the user can adjust
... bass, wow effects, equalizer and so on. It is often to your advantage to
experiment with these options until you get the sound-quality you prefer.
